Interview Ann B. Morris

What is your favorite word?

Moderation. Too often it is the extremes at either end of the spectrum that lead to trouble.

What is your least favorite word?

Hurry.  I absolutely hate to be told to hurry. Life goes by quickly enough without pushing it forward.

What turns you on?

Beautiful love songs sung by one of my favorite male vocalists.

What turns you off?

Loud sounds--especially loud music and loud television. It makes me crazy.

What sound do you love?

Again, pretty much what turns me on. Good music. Preferably soft love songs.

What sound do you hate?

Again, I hate any loud noise.

What is your favorite curse word?

I have quite a few, but I guess I say the nasty variation of crap most of the time.

What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?

Forensic Anthropologist--if I had the stomach for field work I’d like to do it all. Clinical, armchair forensics, I know I could handle.

What profession would you not like to participate in?

Landscaping and gardening. I love beautiful flowers--I’m an artist and I love to paint flowers, but I absolutely hate working outside in a garden.

If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?

You did good, girl!

A few more:

What prompted you to write A Change Of Plans? A character? An idea?

The idea came when I started thinking of occupations for my two new characters. I was listening to one of those radio talk shows where a mechanic was helping people diagnose problems with their automobiles, and Wham! along came Zach. The female character, Cara, came to life when I decided on a small café and catering business for my heroine. Then I worked on how I could get the two to meet. Next I had to put them at odds with each other, so that they’d have to work hard to hold on to their dreams while at the same time committing the most important part of their lives to the other person. Needless to say, as the title of the story suggests, a lot of plans were changed before the HEA.

What do you like about being published by a small press?

The personal involvement between myself and the editorial and art staff. I especially like having some input into the book’s cover design.

What do you love about writing? What drives you crazy?

I love coming up with a story line, creating characters to drive it, and then living with both in my head from the beginning of the story to the very end. What drives me crazy is the almost daily battle I have with my creative self to convince it that I really can write well enough that others enjoy my work.
